well, in certain ways yes, and in others, no. Each sign is associated with an element, of which there are four. Water, earth, air and fire. Earth signs tend to mesh well with water signs, and other earth signs. Air signs tend to mesh well with fire signs, and other airs. Your guy is a virgo, which is an earth sign, but you m'dear are an air sign. So, according to the elemental analysis you two might not be a match. Though one must note the fact that both of your signs are ruled by Mercury. Each sign of the zodiac has a ruling planet, Mercury is the only planet that rules two signs. So, although gemini and virgo may not be a great match according to the elements they have other ways of relating. Mercury is the planet of communication, so there is always good conversation between the gemini and the virgo. They seem to find similar things interesting.
i would like to note that gemini and virgo are only your SUN signs. there is a lot more involved when it comes to astrology. so whether or not these signs are compatible should be no cause for worry or joy. get full charts done, and compare those results for something more accurate in the way of astrology.

Virgo With Gemini:
For constant bliss this in not a good combination. With Mercury ruling both signs, this may prove to be too much over the long haul. In Gemini, Mercury is calculating and logical; in Virgo it is critical and demanding. Gemini's ever-present desire for change would be much for the realistic Virgo. One point for the two to be compatible would be the desire for good clothes, cleanliness, mutual desire for friends and associates who are engaged in intellectual and artistic pursuits. Through these channels many Gemini-Virgo combinations are formed. You wouldn't expect anything in common here but both signs are ruled by mercury, so there is an equal nature in mental stimulation, social drive and business. Pretty good. Both ruled by mercury; the planet of thought and communication. You both like doing that.
I know a couple who are gemini and virgo with the male the gemini. The gemini sees the virgo as too obsessive about perfection, and the virgo sees the gemini as too non-committal and a scatter brain. They made a good couple though.
