Not me! I pay more than enough in taxes. Look how they robbed the SS fund. Think I want the same care they give the vets. Everybody is always talking about the cuts in veterans benefits. What the hell are they going to think when they do the same to everyone?

... that's WAY high of an estimate and you know it... or maybe you just don't care...

and clearly the brits don't pay 50 percent, at least most of them... the very wealthy may...

some in Sweeden may pay near 50 percent, but they are about the highest in the world that I am aware of... but they get many more services from their government than we do, including free health care...

the real question is... how much do average Americans now pay for healthcare? for many, it's a sizable percentage of their income already... and the increase in taxes would probalby be less than they pay now...

Hell, NO! I'd quit first and let a bleeding heart pay for mine.

I have fibromyalgia, and have had enough problems finding a competent doctor - even when I lived in southern Cali. If they go socialized, what would happen to someone like me? Good God I don't even want to think about it.

Xia - first, medical school is MUCH harder to get into than grad school. Doctors EARN their money. Why don't more of the bleeding heart Hollywood liberal donate their money? Talk about people who shouldn't make more than a teacher. Or professional athletes. Hell, even college sports coachs - Oregon has huge fiscal problems, yet the state still finds the money to pay a college football coach $1,000,000 per year. That is CERTAINLY more that most doctors make, and if a sports program is any good, why can't it support itself?!?

the doctor basher in this room deserves free healthcare. then when the rest of the good doctors quit and you have to sit in the emergency room or in a sub par doctors office for 2 week for a check up let me know how doctors make too much money. incase you dont know the avg family practice doctor makes less than 100,000 now days. these are people that can save you or your kids life and you think that is too much. try paying back $700,000 plus interest while buying lawsuit insurance avg 20-30,000 per year to cover their butts from people who think the same thing that they make too much. this in just school cost but try living for 11 years with zero income because you cant work while in med school. you finish school when your 30+ years old owing close to 8 to 900,000 making 100,000 per year yea, they make too much........ unbelievable your jealosy.... I wish every one of you would live one week in a doctors life while in med school and the first 10 or so years after wards. you have no idea what they go through and to say that they make too much money,...... I sure hope you dont show up on my wifes examination table.

I'm a canadian and we have universal health care. And we do not pay out 50% more in taxes than you do. There's no way. Universal health care is a wonderful thing. It allows you to be able to go to a doctor if you are sick - no worrying about how much it will cost, and maybe not getting yourself taken care of because you can't afford it.
-to the person who said that he wouldn't want to pay for those who are unemployed and that they should go out and get jobs - I bet your tune would change completely if you were one of those people, so have a little compassion, or is that too much to ask from the so called "land of freedom and equality"?

I don't know whether you are aware of it but you are using the lines and arguments concocted by BIG private health insurance who is making profits from your illnesses. Would it not be sensible if you had a health care system that was not profit based and was paid through taxes. And by the way, you are completely wrong on tax increases...the tax increase will be little and the benefits to the public would BY FAR outweigh the increases. Also, at least your taxes would be used for a good purpose instead of being wasted on killing and exploiting other nations like in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere...When is America going to wake up and see who their real enemies are...perhaps they won't be so chummy with Israel, and would not be fooled to legitimize corporate agenda.

Don't people give up a good % of their income for health care anyway... Insurance, medicare, whatever.

The only drawback to free health care is paying for someone who doesn't work, so therefor does not pay taxes.

It'd be such a wonderful world if everyone just went to work. We'd all be taken care of by each other. Everyone can do their part somehow. It's just that we've given the ability to abuse the system that we are a part of. We're just beating ourselves up here.

So, you're in a wheelchair? Get a desk job!
It's greed man. Greed is a b*tch

If someone did something about politicians voting themselves
a raise every 4 months, in the middle of the night, I'm sure
there would be plenty of money for it, without raising taxes.

Yes, I do think these raises would cover 300 million people.
The amount of money spent on the 2004 campaigns, alone
was enough to buy health insurance for every American.

But, I do believe you have nothing to worry about. The insurance
companies are raking in so much, that they would never
allow socialized medicine to happen.

And, if a uninsured person catches a contagious disease &
cannot afford to be seen by a doctor - just think of the
consequences. I think bird influenza is still on the charts.

Not me. I'd be content if the government just let me keep the 15.3% they take for SS and Medicare, frankly.

That 15.3% could provide me with all the healthcare my family needs.

Heck, I'd be satisfied with keeping 1/2.

Thanks, Artic. I was hoping someone would respond to that drivel, and nobody does it better.
