The first thing to note (and, arguably, further discuss) in your paper is the disparity between society's already accepting of homosexuality, and the acceptance of equal marriage. I don't remember any specific numbers, but there's several polls floating around in which most people support "equal rights for gay and lesbians". But not all of these people support equal marriage rights.
To answer your original question: something about our language is going to have to change. The biggest cause for fuss in all this is the muddling of legal marriage with religious marriage. Most people don't realize how very little these two are actually related. Every major medical organization in the country (AMA, APA, the professional organization for social workers, and pretty much all related fields) all agree that the biggest problem in society is SOCIETY, and not gay people. In a country based on, at very least, not supporting any one religion more than another, those churches that DO already recognize gay and lesbian unions should be allowed the same legal recognition as all the other churches' marriages. Going further than that, if you believe in a full seperation of church and state, then I have yet to see any legitimate arguments against full marriage equality (all those I ever hear revolve around the Bible, or on occasion vague assumptions about "nature" that turned out to be inaccurate, as there are several other animal species that exhibit varying degrees of non-heterosexual behavior).

I doubt that kind of slippery slope will ever occur. There are differences between homosexuality and paedophilia other than the fact that it is deemed 'less ethical' than the previous generation. Paedophilia is dealing with innocent children who really don't know what they want, being taken advantage of by developed and (seemingly) mature adults. I don't find any parallel with homosexuality, which deals with a simple consent and affection to somebody of the same sexual orientation as yourself. You could however put incest in the parallels with homosexuality. Sometime in the future, if two related adults consent to a loving relationship... well it might become acceptable, but probably not for a long time. If I personally discovered activity of this nature happening I'd probably tolerate it and mind my own business, as it is hurting no-one. As for wondering where homosexuality came from, well it is a documented occurrence in animals so it wasn't something we wantonly adopted. It is very much part of our nature and the sooner we learn to live with it, the better. Promiscuity can fall under the same category; homo sapiens is a mammal species after all ;-)

In regards to homosexuality, scientific studies continually prove that homosexuality is a biologic trait and not a choice that is made. Since it is a naturally occurring trait (also shown to be present in animals as well as humans), it should be accepted.
In regards to gay/lesbian marriage, you should note some of the benefits regularly denied same sex couples.
Gay couples cannot file joint tax returns, and usually pay higher taxes than they would if they were able to marry.
If two gay people are in a committed relationship and one becomes ill, the other partner can be denied hospital visitation since they are not related.
If a gay partner dies, the surviving partner can inherit their estate but are taxed at the highest rate since they are not a spouse (and oftentimes lose their home due to the tax burden).
If a gay partner dies the surviving partner cannot receive pension or social security benefits, and if the surviving partner inherits a retirement plan it is also taxed because the surviving partner is not related.
Since these inequities do not help heterosexuals and only do harm to homosexuals, same sex marriage should be accepted as well.

of course!! Homosexuals are people too and we should all have the same rights. Society doesnt have to accept gay marriage per say but just give us our rights. We have all this freedom of speech, freedom of this and that.... why arent we able to marry who we love. Two consenting adults equals a happy marriage. Besides us homosexuals deserve to be just as miserable as straight people ;-) LET US MARRY! :-)

Yes! People may not realize this but homosexuality has always existed...(people) Oh wow! j/k. anyway
If it weren't for (some) homosexuals then what would the fashion industry, design, plays, music and the list continues and expands everyday. If you think about the world would be pretty plain w/o us. (not that I can take any credit) (yet) (at least I hope) (man I do this alot)

No. Society (people) should not be pushed into accepting any particular belief system that is counter to their own set of beliefs.
Equalizing of laws is a separate issue. There should be equal rights, taxes, healthcare, etc. for each individual -- period.

Of course it should. Homosexuality is part of what makes up society. I'm gay married 20 years and the moral fabric of the universe is NOT unravelling as we speak. I work, pay taxes, obey the laws,,,,why shouldn't I be treated as a equal?
