They make a baby vapor rub now it is really gentle and is not so strong. I used vicks on my son right away just a tiny tiny bit i figured it has been what mothers used for many years on babies so it never hurt him

It's 2 years old. It's quite strong and can cause skin allergies or, in very young infants, breathing difficulties and damage to airways (so says my GP).
They have a baby balsam product out that can be used from 3months on which is fantastic. It works along the lines a vapour rub but it more natural and soothing.
I use the vicks baby balsam for the whole family now and wouldn't go back to vicks vapour rub.

For the normal Vicks Vapour rub it says to use on children 2yrs and up. And even then it stings their little chests. So use it very very sparingly.

3 Months, but that is for the Vick's Baby Rub... I wouldn't use the regular one without checking with the doctor first

I wondered the same thing, but i used it on my 2 1/2 year old twins when they got really stuffy. I called my husbands mother who works in a clinic, a pediatrics nurse, and she said it would be fine. I don't know i i would use it on a child under 2 just in case.

Check with pediatrician first, but if your baby is older than 3 months you can rub some vapor-rub on his/her feet when there's a cold.
