In the scientific sense you need to have sex 2-3 days before ovulating or on the day you ovulate. To figure when you ovulate there are many methods, mucus, luteal phase, temp. To figure your luteal phase, calculate how long your cycle is ( first day of period to the day before your next period starts). If you have a 30 day cycle count back from the last day before your next period is due to start 14 days.
