I really do not know all the reasons why so many people are against marriage... I feel that marriage is a good thing and I am very happily married to my wonderful husband going on 8 years now. People are negative and dont put all into their marriages and that is why so many marriages end in divorce if you know what i mean but marriage is what you choose to make of it. Congratultions to you and your new husband and I certainly wish you teh best. I am very happy for you!

First of all congratulations. Now that your IN enjoy every minute of it. Many people feel that marriage is a sacred institution and don't want to spend their lives in an institution. I was institutionalized for ten years. The first three were great , then came the puffy bathroom rugs and color matched pillows on the bed. Joint account?? Right! Can I drive the Caddy tonight? Sure honey, < POW, right into a tree> . Then there was the drugs, pimps, and the affair with my mom. My wife and my MOM, HOLY CRAP!!!!! That's just a few of the reasons that I'm down on marriage or any long term crap that brings on mental, physical and monetary abuse. But Please don't take my word for it go have yourself a real good time.

congrats on your 4 months of marriage hope you'll be very happy. Many people turn away from marriage now adays and yes living together is a good way to go. Why rock the boat. many marriages end in divorce. for various reasons. So i can see why people shy away from marriage if things are going good why screw that up. but to each there own.

Because most marriages (in America) end in divorce. The idea of men and women living together out of wedlock is more commonly accepted than is was generations ago.

Maybe those people are jealous of you and your happiness.

Marriage isn't something you can just rush into so if you have
made it that far then well done.

People that don't have that option available to them often just feel a bit left out or inferior and can start to slag off marriage to make themselves feel better.

It all depends on the people you're talking to & their experiences. Some people are bitter about marriage. Maybe they had one and it failed. Close the door to negative people or they'll be like crabs in a bucket.

They may being telling you that they are against marriage when in fact they are against YOUR marriage.
Sometimes people generalize so you don't feel personally attacked.
Anyway, best wishes!
