Firefighter Michael Huskey , turned on his emergency flashers on his minivan while responding to a call for an emergency driver to help a nearby ambulance AND he radioed dispatch to let the trooper who swooped down on him know he was responding to an emergency call . The trooper not only caused a crash- but handcuffed and arrested the firefighter and took him to jail , even after confirming that the firefighter was indeed responding to an emergency . Is this right ?

Yet another trooper demonstrating those "cop muscles"...
"Take of the gun, we'll see what's up"
Don't get me wrong most cops do their jobs and try to do the right thing, but it is guys that think they are god's gift that make all emergency personnel look bad.
Let the victim file a suit for the time delay that worsened the emergency condition as a result of the trooper's actions.
Not to mention that the trooper should be sent back to basic (academy) school, maybe learn not to over do it and loose control. Because either he made the choice to cause a crash, (assault) or did not, (incompetence).

In most states, the responder has to obey all traffic laws, including the speed limit.

In addition, "emergency flashers" are not emergency responder lights (bubble gum machine, etc). It is NOT legal to break traffic laws even with the emergency responder lights, and it is illegal to drive with flashers as emergency lights (they are for vehicles stopped alongside the road, disabled).

In addition, with lights and siren (or not), or on a call (or not), one must pull over for a cop who wants you pulled over. Anything else is felony fleeing and evading.

Granted, the trooper might be a jerk, but the FF was not in legal compliance w/ the laws in most states.

Sounds like someone was doing something they shouldn't have...and can't tell who that was, but it sure seems screwy....

Maybe the Trooper set his house on fire intentionally to get the insurance money and he'll be damned if he's gonna let that fireman put that fire out!!! LOL
