A sincere question is NEVER stupid, it's how you learn things. Sado Masochism--a weird form of kinky sex. People do things such as tie each other up in leather or hemp ropes to a bed and allow someone to literally beat them with belts. It gives them pain and pleasure as well as the giver who is watching it happen.

SM in this context stands for Sado-Masochism, the practice of obtaining sexual gratification from the inflicting (Sado) or the receiving (Masochism) of pain (mental and physical).
It can be lighthearted and 'fun' (such as gentle teasing), or extremely dangerous and violent. It is very important to understand 'ahead of time' what sort of SM someone might be inviting you to become involved in (if the situation ever arises).
The name comes from the Marquis deSade, a somewhat degenerate French noble who wrote several novels and seemed to have attempted to put into practice some of his 'plots' involving abusing young women, and from Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, an Austrian novelist who described the 'other' side of the coin, the enjoyment of pain in a novel.

I am kind of embarrassed taht I know this, but the "s" stands for sadism (someone who likes to hurt people) and the "m" is for masochism (someone who likes to be hurt). I do not recommend searching for it on the internet :o)

S: Sadism.
M: Masochism.
Sadism is when you like to hurt other people.
Masochism is where you like others to hurt you. Or to hurt yourself.
