Here is something I do not understand. We go to Orlando a lot, check in a different hotel each time we go. Part of the adventure of the vacation.

We have been in small motels, and really BIG hotels. Of course the small motels have very modest lobbies. And the really BIG hotels have huge lobbies with high ceilings. But when we get to the room for the night, ALL the rooms look about the same!

So what are we really paying for? The lobby?

PS The places we like to stay in the BEST is any place where you open your room door into an INSIDE hallway. No matter what the price.

Strange, a motel room looks the same as a hotel room. You should probally stay at like a Marriott instead of a resort hotel, there underarted and unique. And your not paying for the lobby my mother works at a hotel and the rooms are very expensive and percise. Look at one of the mattreses and guess how many towels they go through each day. Besides the lobby is the 1st impression it has to be expensive looking, the room is where you sleep and work...as long as its warm and clean, theres nothing to complain about.

You are paying for the extras. Room service, valet, maid service more than once a day, Turn down, etc. I like to stay at nice hotels so that they take care of my every request quickly and with a smile. I travel with two small children so I always need special attention. I recently stayed at a hotel that sent up a highchair when I needed it. They also sent up a child safety kit (outlet covers etc.) I also had one hotel notice that I was staying alone with my daughter and the concierge surprised me and sent up 20 pillows and some extra sheets so that we could make a fort. You are paying for customer service.
I hope your next vacation is wonderful.

The lobby, the restaurants, the other amenities, the staff are paid better so they clean your room better, provide better service, etc.
