What ever you do, do not pierce your own ear. That is the worse thing you could ever do. Just go to a professional piercer from a piercing/tatoo parlor. Its safe and sterile. Even some places in the mall, you can get your ear pierced. I know that store Claires Accessories does it. If you pierce it yourself, you will end up messing up your ear and you could get a bad infection or even an unwanted scar. It's not even that much $ to get it professionally done.

I agree with Laugh out Loud. There are places that offer free piercing if you buy the earrings. Don't risk getting an infection

If you insist! Thumbtacks, alcohol, ice cubes, and a LOT of paper towels! First numb the lobe with an icecube, dip the thumbtacks in the alcohol, brace yoursel, push the tack through the earlobe, and sop up the bloody mess with the paper towels. Or just go to a claire's at your local mall! Go to http://www.claires.com to learn more about getting your ears pierced there! Good luck and god bless you!

Oh goodness. DONT pierce your own ear!! Thats all i can say. You can get REALLY bad infections. I know professional ear-piercing is expensive, but its better than risking infections, or other terrible things that could happen. You can pierce it if you want, but PLEASE take my advice and dont do it, its not safe!

possibly getting someone to do it for you is better, because it's hard getting the hole straight and even and it's a bit nerve racking.
the way i managed mine was...
find a medium sized needle, one with a hole that you could stick floss through. yes, floss. floss without alot of wax makes it easier to keep uninfected, as when you tie the floss into loops you can run them through the hole with rubbing alcohol or such and it's just MUCH easier.
find an eraser to put behind your ear, they use apples on most movies, but i've never tried that. O.o
mark the spot that you want, most people use pen, i used a dark eyeliner for my first time. ;)
it's your preference on weither you want to use ice or pressure or something other to numb your ear. ice tends to melt and makes the needle harder to hold and press in and just makes it harder to handle.
run the floss through the needle, and fold back the two strands until it makes like one strand. like sewing. ;)
soak the needle and floss in rubbing alcohol. (yes, it does make it sting a bit, but it's better than having an infected ear)
when you're numb, place the eraser behind your earlobe and press the needle through as firmly and as straight as you can... make sure it's all the way through and stuck into the eraser. carefully pull the needle all the way through until the floss is dangling from wither side of your earlobe.
leaving a generous amount of floss, cute the needle off and tie the floss so it makes a loop, like a hoop earring. leave a bit of space so you can run it through and move the floss around. this might be a bit tricky to get the knot snug, but tying it too tight could lead to annoying problems later.
there you go! make sure to clean it regularly and pull the floss around every once and a while so it doesn't heal into the hole just like an earring.
but i really do suggest you get it done professionally or have someone do it for you. it's incredibly hard to get the hole straight and pull the needle all thr way through.

BAD. IDEA.
your ear could get infected--SO gross! and you could get a disease from exposing yourself to metal, if its not sterilized--and end up in the hospital.
theres a reason that people go to a proffessional to do it!
