Over the course of the past few years it seems that the American people have gone from being a proud, strong nation to one full of excuses and lamentations. Is this perhaps only confined to the 'net? If not, what's causing this turn around in values?

I believe Americans are more aware today of what is going on in the world, thanks to the computer generation.

We are number 32 in world wide health care, that is sad for the strongest nation in the world. We are not even the highest in mortality, Japan is.

Since we are getting educated to what other country's do, we just can not be so blatantly boastful.

In Europe, if your child maintains a B average, they can go to college without funds, just purchase books and they can get a degree, even to medical school, that is why they can turn out more educated people.

I do believe our country is going to have to wake up and do something about the health care and educational system or we will be left in the dust.

The turn around in values, in my opinion, is due to our society being more selfish with a "what's in it for me"? mentality.

The net has made us more aware, I believe.

We make excuses when we cannot accept responsibility. Everyone, everywhere is passing the buck.

I also wholeheartedly agree with the 1st respondent.
Just my 2 cents.............
