I agree with the answer that we are in hell. Earth is hell.
However, I think that "hell" is a relative term because what is hell for one person may not be hell for someone else. Also, there are so many different religions and faiths, a person of one faith may believe that a person of another faith will go to hell just by belonging to that other faith.
I don't think there is a hell but I really wish there was a hell so all the bad people- murderers, rapists, terrorists, child molesters, etc. will get the punishment they truly deserve.

I believe in God an I truly hope that only the very bad go to hell.I mean this world sometimes for some including myself has at one point or another been a hell. Some people live in a protected life and never experience the evil that is around them.Possibly living next door. They are fortunate.I have seen and met some sick and scary evil on this earth and it is not cool at all.I definitely have been blessed.God bless us all.

This is a good lesson !
Heaven vs Hell
A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,
"Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."
The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and
the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table.
In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled
delicious and made the holy man's mouth water. The people sitting
around the table were thin and sickly.
They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long
handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it impossible
to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle
was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their
mouths.
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, "You have seen Hell." They went to the next room
and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was
the larger round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy
man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled
spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and
talking.
The holy man said, "I don't understand."
"It is simple" said the Lord, "it requires but one skill. You see,
they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of
themselves."
When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of you!

Your priest should be able to answer this question, because he told you about "Fire" and "Devil". Unfortunately dead people who ended up in hell won't tell us what it feels like being there.

Here's a question for you. Doesn't a religious figure telling you to accept God or face hell make you suspicious? As far as I'm concerned it's a scare tactic. Religion doesn't always hold up to logic and common sense so you encourage participation by fear. That's pretty much how the Nazis got people to go along with them.

This is my personal theory. All the worst stuff you were afraid of in life, that is hell. For instance, all the worst things, war, torture, losing a loved one in a horrible attrocity, Holocaust, etc. That is hell. Except you do not have the option or relief of dying. It is eternal. Forever. You never escape. You cannot go mad, you're not mortal. You feel pain and torture forever and ever.
That would be hell.

this, of course, presumes one believes in the concept of hell in the first place.
And more to the point what is the criteria for getting in in the first place
Personally, I think hell is living ones life based on someone Else's criteria of what is proper and right behavior without having a say in the discussion

Saddam is there, and you are forced to watch the Dukes of Hazard Movie with Jessica Simpson, over and over and over again. Can't imagine a worse hell than Saddam and Simpson's acting.

Fire and a thick smell of sulpher. Also, when people say .. I'll see you in Hell .. as a joke .. Hell is so dark that you can't see anything. You just hear screaming.
