I live in florid anad every evening the last few nights, in the west, I see a very bright star/planet just after sunset. Anyone know what it's called? Tx John

I think its venus

Most probably you are seeing Venus. Mercury is out but is so close to the sun at this time that it would be extremely difficult to see in the glare. Next to the Sun and the Moon, Venus is the brightest "star" in the sky and would be seen close to the Sun at sunset. If you have access to binoculars, you might carefully look at the planet (never view the sun itself with binoculars). If the object looks like a partially lit moon then it is definitely Venus.

venus should be in the southwest sky tonight, just under the moon. venus is the brightest object in the night sky next to the moon. watch it for the next couple of days, it should move around in its location in the sky, if it doesnt, then its a star, thats how they discover planets. but yea, its venus

i did!!! and i went for a walk earlier and pointed out mars (just to the right and above a little from the moon) and itwas really really bright too! but if only the moon gave out heat waves like the sun, im freezing lol ;)
