Brilliant for who? It may play into he hands of the GOP, given that the center of the population (who decide elections) does not vote like the center of the democratic party (who decide only the democrtic candidate). Again it could backfire on republicans and give them their worst nightmare: a president that raises taxes, socializes medicine and gives the green light to any who want to test america's resolve. But never say it couldn't happen, because you can never underestimate the ignorance of the public.
