I know from experience that I thought I was in love when I was only a few years younger than I am now. But I've realized that the relationship was no good for me, and we didn't really love each other.
It's not much of an answer, but I guess it just means something to know that you develop a better sense of perspective as you get older.

Because they assume you do not know the 'true' meaning of love yet. I was in love when I was young but it was very different than the kind of love I felt when I was older. I still don't think I'm really there yet.
Feelings usually change when you get older because you change. It's not really fair to compare that stuff and say one is 'real' and the other is not. They can just be very different.

Because there is a difference between love when you are a teen and love when you are an adult. Becuase of the huge difference, people say that teenagers can't love, when really they mean teenagers haven't experienced adult love.
This in no way puts down teen love, its still love.

Because, although young love DOES exist, too many teens simply aren't ready for true love mentally. There have been too many cases where young people have done very bad things over what they thought was "love."
