Let me count the ways:

Red is a primary color and orange is not.

The letters o, a, n, g, and d. All others are shared by both.

Red has 3 letters and orange has 6.

Red has one syllable and orange has two.

Orange is the name for a type of food item and red is not. (except for 'Big Red')

The addition of yellow.

They're on different parts of the visible spectrum.

There is a planet dubbed the "Red Planet' but not so for orange.

When spoken, 'red' can be mistaken for 'read', as in, "I read the book last year." Orange is not similar to any other words when spoken.

Red is a nickname for a redhead. There is no such nickname as orangehead.

Red can be a man's name, as in Redd Foxx. Not so for orange.

There may be other differences, but my brain hurts so I'm stopping.
