Come on, lets hear your ideas for victory (and not surrender eg cut and run)

Your question has a faulty premise. Liberals think that all wars are inherently evil (unless a democrat is in the white house) and America deserves to lose in Iraq. It's not fair to ask them how they are going to secure victory, if the concept is ideologically foreign to them.

How about the plan the Generals in charge on the ground have? You know, the one that Bush didn't like and won't follow?

And you've never heard a better plan for "victory" in Iraq from the Dem's? Try reading, or actually listening to what the Dem's say, not just Rush Limburgher and Bill Orally. Ever heard of "phased redeployment?" Do you even know what it means? Or did you buy the ultra-conservatives BS about it being "cutting and running?"

Try being open minded for a change and not just judgemental about things you haven't even researched.

What is our option?
Most people are upset that we went there at all!

Once again the Democrats have to clean up another republican mess.
Here's my question....
Why weren't the borders secured after we eliminated their government 3 years ago? Because of that mistake we now have an insurgency problem.
So now that is going to have to be addressed and fixed.
22,000 more troops isn't going to accomplish that task. We need at least 100,000 to effectively deal with the problem.
I know most Americans don't want to hear that ....but that is what will be required. 21,000 is putting a band-aid on a head wound.
Do you realize we have been in Iraq longer than we were engaged in WWII?
Most Americans are upset with the ineffectiveness of the previous military strategy because of it's ineffectiveness. They have had nearly 4 years to get the job done and it wasn't.
And where is the Iraqi responsibility in all of this? They need to step up and effectively address the issues of rebuilding their military and police forces. The country ...because of oil revenues has the wealth to enlist a majority of the male population to deal with the training of security forces. We can't be there to watch their backs forever.
We need to get the job done and get out ...that's all!

The first step: SECURE THE BORDERS!!!

how do you turn a brewing civil war into peace?

you don't...

the only way to "win" would be to kill all of one side... sunni or shite... since most civilized people find that unacceptable... victory is all but impossible...

you can't have a "better plan" than someone who doesn't have a plan... you can only have a plan, when the other person doesn't have one...

which Bush clearly doesn't... we've been there 3 or 4 years with almost no progress relatively after Saddam was caught...

If Bush had listened to some of the plans that Democrats had put forward, Iraq today would be well on its way to rebuilding itself, most or all of our troops would be home by now, and we would have a more secure and peaceful world. But no, Bush won't listen to anyone except those who tell him what he wants to hear, and innocents are paying the price.

Forget victory. Bush, Republicans just need to swallow their pride, PEOPLE ARE DYING.

Listen to the Iraq Study Group and solve the Iraqi Refugee Crisis that this war has created.

We had a pretty good plan of going into Iraq qith a lot more troops, but we were laughed at. Told we didn't know what we were doing. Funny how that works huh?

Bush has gotten us into a mess that no one really knows how to get out of.

it is not insulting....it is just considering the facts...facts not words...talk is cheap. bush has done anything of what he could to destroy America's credibility and reputation... My Idea for victory is to vote for HIllary Clinton... She will make the USA rise back ...

bring those troops back and show the world America's real Face, not the one of a moron like bush

They don't have one. See, Dems will never do anything difficult, even if it means long term gain. So if a troop surge is necessary, they will not allow it since it means short term hardship.

This is why they should not be in power: they think if the US were more worthy, the rest of the world would like us better. This need for other nations approval is dangerous foreign policy, and should not be tolerated by the world's only superpower.
