when i bought my xbox, my friend had bought his the day before. he was showing me everything it could do. the part that i liked was that you could put music on it. i bought mine used, and mine wont read a cd unless it is the original copy, where as his will read any cd. this really bugs me because all of my music is burned. does anyone know why?

The answer is really simple. You and your friend have different DVD-ROM drives. HE probably got a Samsung drive, and I bet you have a Thomson or a Philips. Also, CD-RW discs will work in any of the 3 types of drives, so try burning to those and ripping the tunes.

THere ere several vesions of the Xbox relaesed but nothing was really said about them. they are all the same but minor things were changed. For instance ppl taht owned the 1st gen probaly had problems with their powersupply and others have disc errors. some xboxes read bured some didnt. i dont remember if you can but try buying a memory unit and burn the songs to your friends then transfer them over.

It is highly possible that it was a manufacture error or it could just be that the person who owned it,abused it someway.
