That's an interesting view. Have you noticed how we Yanks copy the Brits? Most of the reality shows that are on now were first on in England. Through the years several of our sitcoms have been from Britain. A few examples that come to mind are All in the Family, Three's Company, and Sanford and Son. The Beatles dominated American music for years. They were from England. I think you're just a bit turned around.

Actually, I think that the British feel that they are responsible for the existence of America. After all the US was a British colony at one time. Of course that was ages ago... But since we are using their language and given our history - the US and Britain are more like close relatives. And it is pretty common for relatives to resemble one another. (No - I am not a Brit)

I think your question is wishful thinking on your part!
The Brits I know think we're a laughing stock the majority of the time and seem to fare very well without our input, our fashion, our lifestyle and our politics and often times they're right on!
You're assumptive query is the epitome of what makes us Americans look foolish, in my opinion.
