Ah yes............. It is really gettingon my nerves these days.... 1 moment you helped carry a guys book's up the stairs next thing you know everyone thinks that you like him!!! The mysteries of life...
But why can't people just understand that helping someone carry their books up the stairs, or helping them with their homework isn't a sign of "affection" as they say.... It is more of an act of kindness..... Tell them that and they will just think even more that you like that person...!!!!
Urg!!!!!!!

People have a need to be loved; some more than others. In cases where people are starving for love and affection, they read more into a simple act of kindness as something deeper than what it really is to fill a void.

Because we live in very cynical times, and quite frankly, kindness is something most people don't see very often. Most acts of kindness usually have a catch.
Yes, it's sad and kindness being its own reward just doesn't seem to be enough for most people.

It must be h e l l being an attractive woman. I think its in people's nature to carry things to the point of first refusal and persistent people will give it one or two shots more than that.

ohhh gawd...i totally know what your talking about...i'm just nice...to people...a guy asked me to borrow some notes...i lent them to him...he spilt coffee on it and i told him not to worry about it...then he said he noticed that i had lipstick on one of the pages...he asked me if i did that as a sign and he gave me that look....and i was like, i really don't remember but if i did, it was on accident....i was nice and since i wasn't upset about the coffee, he just kept on trying to get me to give him more than a friendship...i was like, i don't want to hurt you, but i was just trying to help...nothing more...i would have done the same for anyone else...i think that kind acts in itself should not be misconstrued but maybe there is not enough kindness that once people find it, they misinterpret to be something more...or its just what the person wants and wishes the other to want...

Some people are just desparate for any kind of attention that they grab hold when a little kindness is offered.
I do know what you mean though.
Keep being KIND anyhow.

yes, i know how you feel....it is because people just like to assume all the time and it's not right..
so for me, i distribute my affection to my friends (men in particular) evenly so as not to be taken that i am eyeing someone among them...if the matter goes out of hand, i say what i truly feel..

Kindness is such a rarity, it seems people think one is up to something, when they are only trying to be helpful or friendly.
