Who did the upgrade? a business or a friend?
A business, call them up, complain, and tell them you are bringing it back for them to fix it
A friend, find out what type of sound card you have, visit the support center on their website, the drivers you need should be found there

also you may find the driver you need here

you won't know which one you need unless you know what type of soundcard you have
Check the Device Manager

you are not upgraded the system properly at time of up-gradation may be your system has logged of some one or shut down that's why such things happens

first you upgrade the system again and then installed the sound driver from CD which you get from motherboard and go control panel, systems, device manager. check driver installed properly or not if it is not the it shows yellow question mark. if it is not showing OK then remove it and again istalled it

Well go to the bottom and check your tool bar. There should be an icon for your volume . It may have left on mute. What was the upgrade anyway.

Check the volume is up.

Check the cable is connected to the correct output (the lime green one).
