I would drive both cars. and the one that drove the best I would buy. The Saturn should drive better because it is a larger car. The L series fall in the class of the Accord, Camry, Malibu and Stratus category so by belonging to a class of cars that is larger than the Neon then the Saturn L should have the advantage. You can get an L series in a 4 cylinder or V-6 but the Neon only comes in a 2.0 4 cyl in 2000. The Neon should net you better fuel economy. If both cars are in similar condition and I can buy both for the same money then I would choose the Saturn if I am looking for comfort. If I am looking for economy then I would choose the Neon. I hope that this helps. Good luck.

I had a Saturn (three door) and now I have a Sebring Convertible by Chrysler. I have not had any problems with my Chrysler. The Saturn's transmission often gave problems early on but it was used. The Chrysler is new. However, that Saturn is supposed to be very good under impact in the event of an accident, God Forbid. I'd look at the miles and overall condition of each car as used cars can be tricky. Do a background check on both to ensure you don't buy a lemon.
Hope this helps.

My Daughter has a 2000 Neon. There are many things starting to go on it. The Saturn L-Series is basically an Opel (German Engineered). I haven't heard anything bad about the L-Series. I think that car would be more dependable for you (as a group). Of course, you should have a mechanic look it over if you're not one yourself.

Go for the Saturn. I had an Ion and then now I have an Aura and I love Saturns. Neon's are pretty rinky-dink compared to an L Series.

they both suck. but for your question of quality parts price and safety. get the neon. if you get the saturn you might as well get a matchbox car.
