Liberals live in a fantasy world, where the dictates of "Political Correctness" force everyone into a grim Soviet-era type of conformity in their practices and beliefs.
Liberals are so utterly self-deceived, you have to wonder if their little brains really don't border on dementia. How else could all the Democrats who advocated toppling Saddam Hussein, citing his WMD's in a callous, calculated bid to appear strong on national defense, then turn around and act like they were always against the war?
Liberals are the most vexingly hypocritical people on earth. Just read the book, "Do As I Say, Not As I Do: Profiles In Liberal Hyprocisy".
You know why the term, "limousine liberal" packs such a punch? Because it's so true, so on-target.
Liberals are people like Streisand who chastise people for not living an environment-friendly lifestyle, and then fly their own private, gas guzzling jets, low mileage luxury autos and SUV's, and air condition entire mansions (while heating the swimming pool).
Liberals are people like Nancy Pelosi who advocate union labor, but forbid it at their own businesses.
Liberals are people like Michael Moore, who preach with moral superiority about how minorities need to be given opportunity in the work force, but then hire a shockingly low percentage of minorities themselves.

What specifically is unstable and demented about liberal beliefs?

Probably the same reason the conservatives are so mentally unstable and demented in their beliefs. They think they are right as a group, just as other groups think about themselves.

The one Supreme Court Justice whom I most respect was a "liberal" -- Hugo L. Black. There was nothing unstable or demented about his mental state.

I remember the line in the bible about not pointing out the specks in the eyes of other people while ignoring the logs in one's own eyes. Especially when asking why certain people are mentally unstable.

What do you consider a liberal? Most people you probably consider a liberal just don't agree with you on certain things. Personally I'm an independent. I think it's unfair that people should demean each other because they have different views. I also think that when we come to a common consenus that's when our government really works.
Personally I'm pro-gun, against affirmative action, but I seek more moderate stances on so called moral issues.
