For the past 3 nights there has been a cricket in my house. It is just so annoying. Anytime I try to sleep, it starts chirping. I'm getting so fed up with this that I just want to asassinate it with an eyelash curler!!! But the problem is I can't catch it. How do I catch and kill this inferior plague of the earth???!!!

I read once that crickets like to stay where it is warm. When a cricket chirps, count it's chirps, and you can find out the tempature of the location that it's at.
To convert cricket chirps to degrees Fahrenheit, count number of chirps in 14 seconds then add 40 to get temperature.

Example: 30 chirps + 40 = 70° F
It could be near a vent, near the fireplace, anywhere, see if you can figure it out.

Indoors, some crickets can feed on a wide variety of fabrics, foods and paper products. Cotton, linen, wool, rayon, nylon, silk and furs are susceptible, along with soiled fabrics, sizing from wallpaper, glue from bookbindings, fruit, vegetables, meat and even other crickets.
That's an idea of where you might find it.

The only thing I've found to work is bug spray. Sprayed the entire house with indoor insecticide (I made sure that it would kill crickets-said so on the bottle) and in a day I had no more cricket. I sprayed around the exterior of the house as well.

Crickets are the noisiest member of the cockroach family. A bait that will eradicate them is 95% Molasses and 5% Borax or Diatomaceous Earth (available in pet shops). Keep the bait away from pets & children. If you can spray them, use 1 ounce dishwasher soap in a quart of water.

My mom/dad always smack it with a shoe. You have to find it fast cuz crickets lay eggs you know. My mom heard that for every 1 cricket you see, there are like 12 more in the house. Creepy.

You might not really want to do that...it's terrific bad luck to kill a cricket! You can spray them with household-type chemicals, 409 or windex or something, but you're gonna get some mondo bad luck.

I had one on my wall the other night, I knocked it down onto the rug and chased it around for a while with the broom. I swept it up into the bristles of the broom and put it outside unharmed.
