I am only 10 weeks pregnant and have already gone in for two ultrasounds because I had two previous miscarriages already, as well as a cyst. I have been told I have a heart shaped uterus (there is a fancy medical name but I don't remember) and that later on in the pregnancy I could deliver early. My mom also has an irregular shaped uterus and delivered me two months early, my mom and aunt were also delivered early. My questions are

is premature labor hereditary?

does anyone else have this problem and been told this?

Should I (would you) move up any of the future baby plans knowing this may happen?

I have a heart shaped uterus. I was not aware of this until I had what I thought was a miscarriage. I had a scan to be sure there was nothing left and luckily it showed that the baby was tucked up safely at the top of one of the curves whilst it was the other side that had come away and bled.

I did have a very early baby. My waters went at 23 weeks 6 days and he followed several hours later in the early hours of the following morning weighing 1lb 3oz.

But no one can tell me for sure the cause altough the odd shape could have been a contributing factor.

Altough it is not nice to have to think of the worse case scenario I would prepare yourself for an early delivery just in case.

I will keep my fingers crossed that you have a long and uneventful pregnancy. Good Luck!

I have a heart-shaped (bicornuate) uterus also, with a partial septum (wall) between the two sides.
Preterm labor is a risk, for some women. I guess it depends on how severe it is.
For me, I went to term all 4 times. But 3 of them were breech! The first was a c-section; I had VBACs for the others, but they had to be turned (external version) before labor.
So it's not automatic that you will have a preterm baby.
I would hope for the best, but be prepared.
Good luck!

I've never heard of that. But it makes me think of love. Pray that God fills your womb with love and mercy for this baby. Good luck and keep us updated on your status please.
