Your decision should be based on what you are good at, interests, and what career you want to pursue in the future.

First of all, every college and university I have heard about lets you wait until your 2nd year to choose a major -- I would highly recommend waiting as long as they let you before making a final decision. Definitely take a broad range of classes, as broad as you can get into, and make sure to take at least one class each year that you never thought you'd want to take. Follow your instincts and be open to what strikes you as interesting as you go along; seek out your advisor and ask for his or her advice about what you should take given your initial interests. Unlike high school you are now the main player in your education - believe in yourself, ask a lot of questions, and enjoy your journey as much as you can.

Examine what you like doing, and what you do naturally. There is also something called the Strong Interest Test. Most counseling offices in most colleges carry those tests. If you are a freshman in HS, go to your guidance counselor and ask for this test. They also may have it. Good luck.

If you do not know what you want to be when you grow up then just take your basic classes and after that if you still dont know then drop out for a couple of years and work to figure it out or you are going to be spending thousands of dollars of your parents or yours and not get anywhere. In a couple of year you will probably know what you want to do but for now dont waste your time and money.
My son waited for a few years until he finally decided he wanted to teach. Before that he got all the partying out of his system and grew enough to go back to college and get his degree without wasting any of his time or money on stupid stuff.
