A zebra is not a horse. If it were I'd say it was gray that got separated into two parts ;-)

For zebras, you won't be able to guage them with horses. that's like you're comparing between a chimpanzee and orang utan. on the grounds that zebra-crossings base shades are black with white stripes, then i likely imagine that zebras' base coloration are black. not in any respect innovations ignore about that area, yet I actually have a strong feeling that their base colour are black/brown.

Black ground color with bold contrasting stripes continuing all the way down to hooves; rarely any shadow stripes, except occasionally and faintly on hindquarters. Seven to ten neck stripes; three to four vertical body stripes. Short, upright mane. Tail terminally haired.

And a Zebra is in the horse family. It is of the same Genus: Equus. They are known as Natures Horse Tiger.

Firstly, a zebra is not a horse, it is it's own species. And I would have to say it is white with black stripes. If you look at it's belly, it has no stripes and the belly is white. It has black points, much like a buckskin horse has a black muzzle and black tipped ears. If we went by the color of an equines muzzle then the buckskin, would not be buckskin he would be black. and all donkeys, or most of them anyway, would be considered white, because most have white muzzles and white bellys.
Pic of buckskin... does he look 'black' to you just because his muzzle is black?

Zebras are the way they are because of genetic mosaicism. The genes in the white part of the zebra are completely different than the genes of the black part. So, that means a zebra is a white horse and a black horse that have been sewn together genetically.

Black w/white stripes. Because their eye, nose and ears are black. That means their undercoat and skin are dark.. :)
