I mean, since the cold variety is called "iced tea" it kind of implies that it is the COLD style of tea.. not "iced hot tea".. help.

Because you can have ...regular cold tea...which has been refrigerated.......and not served on ice.
That's what most people have in their home. The only time it's iced is when it is just made and still hot...and if it's the kind that needs to be cold..but it's fresh cooked and still hot...then you ice it and have...iced tea.
lmao......making any sense?
So...........if you would rather have it hot...you request...hot tea.
If you want ice in it...you ask for iced tea and if you just want a glass of tea then you ask for cold tea.
Although in in a restaurant...you will always get iced tea unless you ask for something different.
Yes, we Americans are odd.

Not all Americans call it that! In fact, I've NEVER heard it called that! I offer my friends a cup of tea; or a glass of tea; they usually can figure out if it's in a cup, it's hot; glass is cold. I live in the south, though, and most tea here is served cold. Ordering tea at a restaurant here, you will get iced tea unless you specify otherwise.

What are you talking about? There's tea (the kind made from hot water and a tea bag) and there's iced tea(cold tea usually made from powder).

No, we just call it tea and iced tea. Iced tea is a completely different kind than tea. At least that's what us Americans that are still sane call it.
