Surreal-reality movies (Amelie, Spirited Away, Waking Life, Big Fish, Ghost (ok that's pushing it but I love that movie))
My attention is captured in the way that these movies incorporate the best and worst, the most beautiful and most painful aspects of life. The movies are at once realistic and magical. They give/show mulitple dimensions of life and do it in a hopeful and Zen-like way, even if there isn't always a 'happy' ending.

Gangster types like Goodfellas. I just love those movies, they're captivating.
I think I enjoy the dialogue the most.

It's a tie between sci-fi, I love the special effects, and for the nerdy part of my brain, it's the psychological thriller.

Gotta be comedy then any foreign film (Irish, Scottish, Australian,English, Russian etc) indy produced are great.

Mine is Horror, because it always keeps you scared and on the edge of your seat at the same time, you think twice about normal things and they are AWESOME!!!
