I am trying to conceive, but I am often confused about when to have intercourse. I heard you are suppose to try when you ovulate, but I never know when I am. What to look for, and what could I do?

Ovulation happens on average 14 days before the start of your next period but can happen anywhere from 10-16 days before your next period. Some common symptoms of ovulation include: a lot of cervical mucus that is like raw eggwhites-clear, slimy, and stretchy. A lot of women get mittleschmerz which is pain around one or both ovaries, increased sex drive, and acne.

Try charting your BBT (basal body temperature) each morning before you get out of bed, once you have ovulated there will be a temperature rise apparent on you chart. A good site for charting is http://www.fertilityfriend.com/.

Personally I have found fertilityfriend to be a lot more accurate than mymonthlycycles for forecasting ovulation dates, mymonthlycycles always gets my ovulation day wrong by about 3 or 4 days.

Also take a note of your cervical fluid, you should see a discharge that looks and feels like raw eggwhites, this is your most fertile cervical fluid and usually shows right before ovulation occurs, so best time to do the babydance (intercourse).

Another good technique of predicting ovulation is using a saliva microscope which is completely reusuable, so only a once off cost of about £20 or $35 and can let you know when you will be ovulating within the next 1-3 days. Check out this site for more info on it http://www.fertile-focus.com/saliva-ovulation-predictor.html

Hope that this helps hun!

Chart....however there are a few signs. Increase mucus when your fertile right before your ovulation day. Usually a week after your period. There are websites that will give more details on what to look for.....Just use ovulation in any search engine

Good luck

HI, first those ovulation kits are not reliable, they told me I was not ovulating and I got pregnant within 8 wks of trying. If you have a irregular cycle it is hard to know when you ovulate. Look for a sticky, discharge like egg white. have sex as much as you can and after sex keep your ankles propped up! it helps the sperm swim. Good luck!

You could pop a thermometer in your mouth as you start to wake up in the morning leave it there for 2 mins and check it later. Log what your temp is then as your body prepares to ovulate it will dip then as you ovulate it rises. Your mucus (wipe before peeing) will turn 'egg whit' like when you ovulate and is slippy and stretchy. These are the best methods. Have fun!

if you have regular 28 day periods then you ovulate day 14 (day 1 is the first day of your period) so you are fertile between the 13 and the 16 (more or less).....there are ovulating home test you can buy at the drugstore

Well we normally ovulate between the 14th and 16th day after your cycle and inbetween your next cycle so 14-16 days after that is best to try. Best of luck!

Usually its approximatly 2 weeks after you start menstruating. I have gotten pregnant 3 times exactly 2 weeks after the start of mine. Also, some women feel a pain or cramp on their sides that will signal ovulation is occuring. I myself have felt this. Also you may feel an increase in libido, and thinner vaginal secretions to enable the sperm to "swim" to their target. Hope that helps!

Like the peeps say on here 14 - 16 days before the end of your cycle, I was told to make out with my husband every other day from day 12 - 18 from the start of my cycle.

Good Luck.
