Even when they are our inlaws? Even when the nutty relatives are men? I never see men doing this dirty work, only the women. First of all, is this true from other people's perspectives and secondly, if so, why is this our job?

My mother-in-law is luny. If I don't deal with her no one else will. And when my husband and I both didn't bother with her for a year, she blamed me and not my husband. I feel forced to. And sometimes I feel sorry for her. But he doesn't.

I think women handle or manage most family functions and situations because we're more concerned about what everyone thinks. Guys can care less if Uncle Sal got into the sauce and made a scene at dinner.

And 9 times out of 10, they don't KNOW that you need help with the nutty relatives. They just think we're actually enjoying being frazzled. Seriously. If the family is starting to drive you over the edge, tell him and let him deal with it.

It doesn't have to be your full time job. But you got to let them know you need help. Guys are seldom mind readers and they have the intuition of a pet rock. So, tell your man to keep his family in check before the situation arises again.

I'm sorry ma'am, but I think your slightly mistaken. Men have the same issues with crazy relatives as women do.

Usually this is manifest in annoying inlaws - you likely don't see this because the inlaws would be your parents, and of course you love your parents.

But of course it can be other relatives too, just like for women it could be other relatives. For example, I can't stand my cousins. Whenever we go to a family reunion I go tuck myself away in some corner because I simply can't stand talking to the jerks. (Thankfully, we haven't had a reunion in awhile!!)

Hope this sheds some light on the situation.

It might be the way you look at it.
Girls are always more social and they talk with everyone and this is how they get mixed up with the nuts.

It's not "our" job. But if you jump in and do it, others will surely let you. Why put yourself in a position you don't want to be in, then complain about it?
