When jobs announced the iphone, he seemed proud of the fact that it got 5 hrs of battery.?

That seems like nothing to me, especially for a phone. What are your thoughts

five hours is rubbish for a phone

supposedly that's only if you're actually talking on the phone for all 5 hours. regardless, that's completely ridiculous that such a high tech device (especially from a company that normally prides itself on excellent battery life) would have such horrible battery life.

I can usually get a good 8 hour day in with a lot of activity on my phone... 5 hours would suck for me.
