etc. But why can't a lime be used instead ? Would it alter the health benefits? Everywhere I have read, it always says LEMON. Anyone know?

Lemon is used by convention, but limes are just as good. Here is an article discussing why lemon/lime are soothing and help to decrease frustration. It is based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

Lemon juice is acid, but turns to alkali in the stomach. Most people are too acid and this helps to neutralise the body. Limes don't have the same propensity. Have a squeeze of lemon in hot water every morning - it jump starts the liver.

I'm a huge lemon/water drinker and wholeheartedly believe in the health benefits it offers.

But I use lime, every now and again as well.

The benefit to lemon/water is the vitamin C which helps your body naturally produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.

The lemon will make the water taste better as will the lime.

Not many people drink lime juice. Its a matter of taste not nutrients. Lemon has a little more vitamin A and C.

that is just because more lemons are sold than lmes and are probably more easily available. almost all stores would have lemons but some might not have limes. The health bebefits would be the same though.

I often drink lime in my water. Cucumber slices in water is nice too, especially in summer. It gives the water a nice silky texture. Mint leaves are nice too.
