yes technically you're right with the adam and eve part, but genetics change with every generation so you have to think that by now we are enough generations apart so that the side effects that come from too close of family breeding don't show up.
the reason its illegal(in most states) is because of the birth defects and complications that come from incest...
which is why most people are disgusted with it, and if you allow incest you open the door to child molestation within the family, with the arguement of "we love each other" in which most cases the child will confirm becuase most children that are molested never report it if its within the home.

Ok, I know this question is really old, but I had to point something out. I don't understand how people don't see this. Healthy family dynamics are a very important part in ones development,mental health, behavior, character and support systems. When you throw in sex, that completely changes things and can be unhealthy for your psyche. Things can get weird, what if you start to argue and stuff? Sexual attraction towards family members can suggest deep seeded psychological problems that have been left unaddressed. I'm not religious or spiritual or brining this up as a moral issue, but one is not meant to be with a family member, evolutionarily and genetically speaking, whether they produce offspring or not is irrelevant. It's not how our brains were wired for appropriate family relations. And compare this to homosexuality is completely off-based. There's a difference between a taboo fetish and a violently protested orientation.

Why is it wrong? Hmm...let's think. First of all, it's COMPLETELY disgusting! Like EUWWW! Second of all, it causes kids to have mental retardation or be severely deformed in some way. Third of all, it's illegal. Does that answer your question?

It's wrong cause of what I just told you, but why would you ask why it's wrong? Do you honestly think that it's okay? I realize why you were getting upset at people, but c'mon. The first thing that ran through everyone's mind, was 'Whoa! Is this person thinking about having something to do with a blood relative?', or 'Is this person against the law that says that incest is illegal for many reasons?'
I realize that you were (most likely) not asking this question because you were trying to molest a family member, but it IS an odd question to ask. I don't know anyone that would even have to ask just why it's wrong.

Well, Adam and Eve didn't exist per se, or at least not literally as in The Bible.
The fact that there are worldwide taboos about this indicates that there was the recognition of deformity/faulty breeding that occurred when families inbred from earliest times.
Also children brought up together are rarely attracted to each other.
While various royal families from Egyptian times are know to inter-marry, often there were problems with children from inbreeding which must have been noted.
As a taboo, it is a protection against abuse from father/mother against children.

Spiritually they say it's wrong even though it had to be done to populate the earth.... but now that science is so advanced, they know that incest with pregnancy is not good. Too many health/mental conditions could result.
I don't belive in the bible's rendition of life and populating the earth. I do however believe in the science of it. I mean you'll do what you want...but people that break the law usually do.

The other OBVIOUS 'wrong' I see with it is that it is not a relationship between two consenting adults.
Most children are inclined to do what parents tell them to do.
IF this is the case then the child does not have a say in this so called relationship.
It is emotional damage to have a child for sexual gratification.
I love my dad but the last thing I would want to do his have sex with his old azz.
I love and admire him for repecting and protecting me
I would be hard pressed (no pun intended) to feel that way if he were the one who too advantage of me in a sexual way.

Because when two people have the same genes and create children, there is a very high risk for severe genetic abnormalities. I took care of many severely mentally retarded people who were born as the result of incest. Its a horrible thing that destroys lives and families. Look up incest and how it relates to genetics.

WHY IS IT SO WRONG? Come on are you serious? Aside from the fact of it being just disgusting, why would you ever want to be sexual with someone you are blood related to? okay i'm damn disgusted that you even ask a dumb question like that but i'll answer it. it's wrong because family members' genes are too much alike. children can suffer many medical problems from having parents who's genes are too much the same. people are disgusted with it because there are too many family members molesting their cousins and nieces or nephews. that's why. if you wanna be with your family member hey i think it's disgusting but that's your choice. when your molesting your family member and they just wanna throw up everytime they see you, you'll figure out why it's wrong
