Okay - here are some questions you can answer that will help you understand.

At the beginning of the movie one of the state senators dies, right? And Jimmy Stewart is picked to replace him. Did you understand why? Why he was picked instead of a more experienced politician? It has to do with the state's other senator, Paine - why does he want Jimmy Stewart instead of another person?

What is Paine trying to do throughout the movie? Do remember what he's trying to do? Build a dam, remember? Why does he want to do this? Why does he want to do this? Who benefits from having the dam built?

But Jimmy Stewart wants to build a boy's camp, right? And how does he want this paid for?

So there's a problem for Jimmy Stewart - right? He and the other senator disagree. So who ends up winning in the end?

So you're being asked to look at how "deals are done" in Washington and who influences politicians, and how.

Does that help?

Mr. Smith for sure. If we had a Congress full of human beings like him, this could be an incredibly different u . s . a .. in spite of if, he became additionally very naive and his inexperience became very glaring. A boy's camp isn't the main urgent political diploma, yet in action picture land, it incredibly is approximately rooting for the underdog, the "everyman" character, the boy around the corner going good. in the real international, political inexperience and idealism are no longer the suitable issues to have on a resume whilst working for workplace.
