i smoked before i became pregnant with my son and luckily something about being pregnant made cigarettes repulsive to me, i was sure i would never smoke again but i did start again (not as much) after i finished breast feeding my son , this pregnancy i have not been so lucky, i get occasional cravings but ever since i saw the little pink line i just remember what is most important. But dont stress if you havent been able to go cold turkey just yet, the key is to cut down as much as possible (of course none at all would be ideal but that may not be as easy as it seems) . And dont listen to the people that like to jump down your throat about it, just do the best you can

I smoked TWO PACKs a day before I found out that I was pregnant...I smoked about 5 cigarettes right before (as I was thinking) I took the pregnancy test - never smoked another after I saw the positive result! (Obviously not a planned pregnancy)

I have never smoked I think its just the nastiest habit next to drug addiction. But I dont judge others. My friend was a smoker about 1-2 packs a day. She found out she was pregnant and that exact same day she quit cold turkey. I am truely proud of her. Just wanted to let you know that cold turkey is possible and good luck

Thank God I've never smoked, but I know 2 people who said that just knowing they were pregnant made them stop cold turkey. It's one of the worst things for your baby to have in his/her body so you really need to stop now and think of the baby. I know it's an addiction but you must get some immediate help so you can stop and care for the unborn child!

All of my girlfriends who became pregnant were smokers, but quit the very second they found out they were pregnant. I had one friend who had her last cig whilst waiting for her pregnancy test results. When it was positive, that was that, it was her last cig of her life-- and she was so happy for it. Another girlfriend quit the very day she found out she was preggers and said it was the happiest day of her life so quitting cigs was like the icing on the cake. When you think about the health of your baby, quitting cigs becomes a lot easier!
Some folks will stop at nothing to berate anyone for taking up such a 'nasty habit', but they don't know what it feels like to be addicted to cigarettes. It's harder to quite cigs than it is to quite heroin, crack, and alcohol combined. It's no wonder recovering alcoholics and drug addicts always hang on to their cig habit.
