I saw a gorgeous thing looking at the sunset tonight. Up over the horizon on this clear night across Lake Erie... the sliver of a moon and a very bright star. Pretty cool.... look out at the moon now... see a sliver of the moon and do you see the star just below it to the right? Is it a planet? A star (obviously)? Does it mean anything (apocalypse)? What country's flag does it look like?

Glad you could see it, it was cloud covered and still snowing in my part of WNY

That very bright star is the planet Venus. It will be in the evening sky until around the end of July. Since the Moon and all the planets orbit in roughly the same plane, the Moon and Venus will be close once every month.
