I live in Oregon, but want to know the majority of the states rules. If you live in Oregon and are answering this question please state so.

Yes you can drive. As long as you have a D/L & insurance your legal in any state. Under 16 the only way @ 14 you can get a hardship license in some cases. I've live in a lot of states & the rules are just about 16 is when you can drive alone. Just never drink & drive. Hope this helps you some.

In Minnesota, you would have what is called a provisional license at the age of 16. You can drive without an adult as long as it is not between the hours of midnight and 6 AM. Also, you are only allowed one minor moving violation over the next 18 months, or you risk losing your license until you are 18.

Most states now have provisional licensing for new drivers under 18 years of age. Typically the hours of operation are limited as is the number of passengers that you can carry.

In Wisconsin, you can get your instruction permit at age 15.5, and when you turn 16 you can take the test and get a probationary license which allows you to drive by yourself or with one passenger, or with extra passengers in the back seat if your parent or guardian (who taught you to drive) is sitting in the front with you. I think you have to have that for nine months, and then you can get a regular license.
