Over the long term (maybe 500 to 1,000 years or more) the population will shrink. The planet will not be overpopulated. So everyone will have enough and people will fight less. At least, that is the theory. The problem with the theory is that there was a time when the population was low and people were still starving and still killing each other.

You should have two to reproduce your numbers. One child has a pampered life and is incomplete. More than two help expend resources and despoil the earth.
Yeast reproduce until they die in their own waste. We are headed that way.
