i bought a house with my x partner,we split up the year after we bought it.
I asked him to leave and he met a girl and moved in with her.
When it came that i wanted to sell the house i could not due to my x partners name still being on the deeds and i had to get a letter of my x with his signature stating he had no objections.
It took along time for me to get him to write the letter and he also demanded half the profit(even though we were split for nearly 14 months when i sold it).
By law i had to give him half.
I really wouldnt pay for 3 surveyor's reports as 1 is good enough.
The only way you will be able to purchase this house is if the x husband puts it in writing that he has no objections and by the sounds of it he may put a halt to it to spite his x wife.
If she cannot afford solicitors fee's etc then the only advise i can honestly give is to look for another home to buy.
Dont forget you will be the 1 forking out for the surveryor's fees each time you get them in and paying for 3 will be costly.
It doesnt sound good from the outset, maybe your best looking else where, after all, moving house is 1 of the most stressful things you can do and adding this hassle wont help

you need to find a different house and not get into that situation!! She will have to go to court to get that straightened out - if she can t afford an attorney tell her to go to legal aid. If you give her any money for the house, as long as his name is on the deed you may end up having to pay for the same house twice, once the money you give her and money to him for the house as well.

if they are not divorced then he has the right to half... which could become a really big problem.... His name is on the deed and till that has changed she can't do anything with the house legally without his OK. apparels are not cheap so he should pay for it if he wants 3 of them . there really isn't to much you can do but wait till they figure it out i might look into different houses cause legally he can stop her from selling it and you could be in for a long wait

Unfortunately, although the man is not physically present in your friend's life, he still has is LEGALLY entitled to the proft of the house. DO NOT continue with the sale unless you are prepared to deal with this man. I am sure you love your friend, but love yourself more - get out while the gettin is good!

My advice would be to speak with a real estate attorney who could advice you better than I can.
I certainly would not buy the house or sign any contracts without checking with a real estate attorney.
