This statement is so deep and true about the philosophy of life and death. I believe that the soul is a person's real personality which another person can see and that it lives eternally for all of time. I also believe that a person's body is the only thing that can die on a human while the soul goes on to live forever. This statement is a very distinct part of the soul and the body.

I think it's a very profound statement. Most of us think of us as only this physical body but forget that there is something else that governs the body. We call it our soul or The Self but during our entire life all our action are directed towards only one goal and that is to satisfy the needs of our body almost completely ignoring the soul.

I think it is saying that "you", as in your soul and thoughts and other not necessarily physical features, are just traveling around inside your body and using it as transportation, as it were, to get from one place to another. I guess it means that you and your body are seperate, however I disagree.

Think of it this way, could your brain, where all thoughts, emotions and actions originate from, survive seperated from your body? Not really. When you point to a scar you say "I got this when..." not "The body I am traveling around in got this when...". I think most people, wheather they realize it or not consider themselves and their body to be one thing: a person.
Also your body is a big part of what makes you unique; your physical features and such. Your body makes it possible for other people to recognize you without having any direct communication. It would even be considered immoral to take your brain and put it in someone elses body because you then become (in part) that other person and are no longer compleatly "you". Another example is rape, your body is invaded and harmed, the criminal does not go inside your brain and touch everything in there, no, they invade your body and therefore you.

I think it sums up the idea that who you are as a person and your physical body are not to be judged as the same thing.
Case in point: You see a beautiful woman. You associate the idea of beauty with being kind, warm, compassionate, and sensitive. Then you try talking to her and she turns out to be a condescending , biased, hedonistic, foul-mouthed wench. And yet all along, guys will still keep chasing said wench because they are only interested what they see and ignore the homely-looking but warm-hearted woman sitting alone in the corner until they finally realize that they 'aren't gettin' any' tonight.

Some people say it's true in one way and wrong on the other. But I think it's true have you ever heard of self control. You, which is your self have always been before your body.Sometimes you get the feeling your body is taking over, but it's Not.Hope that answers your question.(Never Stop Being Curious.)

it has a certain naive immediacy? humans are multi-dimensional. the physical apparatus is merely one portion. who you really are is your "higher self/soul". you'll have to research the particulars--they're very interesting. most humans, either via the training/brainwashing they've received from whatever institutions, are led to identify with their physical bodies only. that's why death creates so much fear. actually, only that which is born can die. only the physical is born, the remainder is "bornless". think about it ;-)

Makes sense. "You" meaning your spirit and/or personality and "your body" meaning your physical self.

i would interpret it as to mean that people see the physical "you" your body but you yourself can hide any secrets, fears, and dreams that only you know.
