the other night I was chopping peppers for my dinner and (I was working in a very limited space) and the glass plate fell and cut open my toe. I have a huge cut in my little toe now and it is all swollen from where the plate hit. How long will it take to heal and how long before the swelling goes down?? Thanks.

Everyone heals at a different rate. I hope you put medication on the cut area and keeping it well sterile. I hit my toe on a chair leg. It bruised, swelled, turned blue and hurt. I wore a socks to protect my toes until the injured toe was healing. I was careful of the shoes I wore
not to have a tight shoe around the injuried area. Treating it carefully it should be several weeks before it heals but not completely.

Keep an eye on the redness. If it starts becoming more sore or you see the redness swell you may have an infection. Keep it elevated to bring swelling down. You may have broken your toe and that takes some time to heal. They can't set it.

Get some Neosporin ointment for the cut. It is an antibiotic lotion to put on the cut when you put a band-aid on it.
