You might find it easier to feed sal in a separate container using some of the water from the tank (same temp.). The fish you hav swim much faster than the sal-they get th food, not sal. Freshwater salamanders in th wild don't hav access to live brine shrimp, but will eat them. A more substantial food 4 them is tubifex worms-but these must be cleaned in cold running water. Put the sal in th feeding container & drop in a clump of tubifex using a tweezers. He'll "love it."....I have almost 44 years exp. with freshwater tropical fish. PS: meal worms might be too large for some sals to swallow.

Salamanders are amphibians, they need a place to come out of the water occasionally. And the suggestion about meal worms is a good one.______PeeTee

You may want to keep your Salamander in a Terrarium. Mine had a pool in it that circulates water throug a filter. Sometimes they go swimming in there.. I feed mine Meal worms
