I wash everything in cold water and use Tide Cold water liquid detergent but if something is really stinky and smelly I usually add a powder product that you can get at any grocery store or Walmart it's called "SO-CLEAN" and really helps to get odors out I will also add vinegar to the wash waster and if that doesn't work try soaking the clothes in a water vinegar mix just enough that you can smell the vinegar and don't worry you won't be able to smell the vinegar after washing. And if it's as bad as you say try the above but use warm or hot water.

With two kids in the house ive realised that 30 and 40 washes are no good for most stains no matter which brand of washing powder i use.If something has a stain on it i generally add a liitle oxi stuff to the washh and put on a 60wash,otherwise the stain is still there after washing. If you are wanting to stay on a 30 wash try rubbing a little washing up liquid on the stain before you put it in the wash, that can help loosen it.Also clothes washed under 60 still carry bacteria, which can make your washing still smell.Clothes wshed at 60 kill off germs. Your best bet for heavy soiled clothes is to wash on a 60 wash if the material isnt too delicate.

depends on the fabric I find it best when you follow the directions on the labels. Use the temperature recommended and add vinegar and baking soda to the wash that should take care of the smell. He probably has a body odor which is normal but might be linked to something he eats that causes this if it bothers you check it out it might be something very simple to fix.

I should think warm water would be good enough- cold might not make the funk dissolve and hot would be bad on colors. I worked in a fish processing plant once and disrobed in the garaqge when i got home, washed clothes immediately with about a full cup of baking soda in a half load (and usual soap, too) and no smell! Also, have you tried drying his clothes on a clothes line outside- the sun and fresh air might help- then fluff in dryer with a freshener sheet.

Soak them in medium-hot vinegar water before washing. Spin dry and continue with detergent and water on regular cycle.Using a softener in the rinse cycle or dryer will also help.

Add borax to the water - it will boost the cleaning ability of the detergent. Its in the box with the mule team on the front - they usually keep it on the bottom or top shelf in the laundry section.
Also, you might want to try baby detergent. They add enzymes to "digest" bodily secretions (spit-up, pee, etc) so this might help.

He puts his funky sweaty clothes in something with an air-tight seal and then leaves it to stew in there for several hours, right? Try switching him to a carryall that allows a bit of air-circulation...doesn't need to be much, but it needs it.
I've had good luck using Arm and Hammer's detergent (and its inexpensive!) mixed with a bit of Oxyclean in warm/hot water.
