It amazes me that the only people that say things like duuhhh and that was easy and how dumb are you are the ones that get the answer wrong. The answer is two. You took two...you have two.

Of course, the trick is to get people to subtract 2 from 3 and say "1". But you just told me that I TOOK two apples, so therefore I HAVE two apples!

I first heard this riddle back in the mid 80s from an issue of "Cracked" magazine. It included several pages of trick puzzles like this, along with impossible mazes, etc.

You have 2 apples because if you take 2 apples from 3 apples then YOU have 2 apples, but the apple by itself only has one.
