You haven't mentioned how old you are. Please be aware that your mother may not be ready to accept her daughter as sexually active, much less having a sexual orientation that she isn't willing to accept.

If you have a friend of family that is of your mother's generation who you and she both trust, it might be better to have them back you up. Have a talk with them, and ask them if they would be willing to be supportive without actively taking sides in a discussion where you attempt to discuss this issue again with your mother.

The fact that your mother called this a 'phase' indicates that she believes it is something you will grow out of. If you don't feel that way, you'll have to be prepared to answer questions and maybe even experience anger on her part. This is probably not the plan she had for you, or even considered in her 'worst case scenario'.

Trying to set a deadline for telling her is probably not the best way to make an impression. If it means that much you, go ahead -- but I think forcing the situation would probably do more harm than good.

It would probably be best to wait to tell her until after Valentine's Day so that she can't ruin those two days for you. Afterward either you can be honest with her and hope for the best reaction or take her to support groups, etc and help her to be accepting.
