She has only eaten 6 oz today (opposed to a normal 18-20 oz). She doesn't seem to be sick, but she is starting to get dehydrated. My doctor doesn't have a weekend calling service, so I can't call. I am not as worried about her nutrition as I am about the lack of fluids. She is almost 6 months old. Any ideas on what is wrong or how to help her? She doesn't have a fever and she doesn't seem to be sick, but she cries every time I try to feed her. I have dumped the first bottle and filled it up again thinking maybe something was wrong with the milk, but that didn't help. Just to let you know what I've done. Help! :)

You can try calling another doctor for advice on what to do till you can get a hold of your regular doctor....Explain you have no way to get a hold of your doctor since its the weekend. Could your baby have a gassy belly or be constipated?

Try a sippy cup.
She may have a sore throat, earache or be teething.
Try a popsicle or ice chips. Fill a bottle with plain water and offer that. Or, just let her suck on a clean, wet washcloth.
Watch her over the next few hours, she may develop a fever very suddenly.

If she does get dehydrated, you might end up at urgent care or ER. Keep trying the ice chips. Good luck.

I even have not seen any concepts to attempting diverse nipples on the bottles. Will she even take the nipple of the bottle and then spit out? If she has been completely on breastfeeding and no bottles for 5 months, she is used to your organic shape and texture. A bottle nipple is diverse smelling, feeling and something new so as that may equivalent uncomfortable and probably even frightening to her. attempt diverse nipple types considering mama's nipple has yet to be precisely copied by way of the bottle businesses. additionally if she makes use of a pacifier, attempt that shape of pacifier in nipple sort. good success and that i think for you. My 1st son, I breast fed and then pumped and felt like I belonged on a dairy farm! i'm pregnant with our 2nd and that i've got already desperate its bottle each and each of how for me!

She's old enough for pedialyte; you need to run right out and get some. That's what the doctor would tell you to do. Also, is she eating? Most babies that age would be on solids and be getting fluids through their cereal and fruit, etc. You might see if she'll take some applesauce.

Maybe she has to burp that happened to my son he'd cry and cry but it was due to a burp. If she wont take her formula/breast milk which ever you are using give her some pedalite it will keep her hydrated or even plain water will do. Is she constipated this could cause her belly to hurt and she wont want to eat. Just a few suggestion is all.
