I have been on the depo shot for about 2 years, when recently my doctor took me off and put me on the pill. I was getting nausious on this pill and could not take it anymore. I stopped and did not get on another pill because I was dropped from my insurance. I got a new job and my insurance doesn't start until March.

Anyway I had my first period in about 2 years on Jan 5th and it lasted through about the 9th or so. I had sex (kind of) on the 13th...but he didnt put a condom on and he never finished because we didnt have any. I just started bleeding again on Thursday the 18th. I thought it was just spotting at first but it got heavier and there have been more clots than usual. I'm still bleeding as of right now (Saturday the 20th). I've read some things on here about people who have had 2 periods in 1 month and ended up being pregnant. Should I be worried? When should I take a home test...I don't want to take it too early and have it show up negative and really be pregnant.

Oh and I just wanted to add that as of my question, my bleeding has tapered off and I'm only spotting a little now. So from Thursday to this morning it was heavy, and now its very light. Not sure if this makes any difference. And also I do not have insurance so can't see a doctor until March..

Okay, it was light for a few hours and it turned heavy again. It has been 95% heavy just like a regular period (if not heavier than normal for me) from Thursday until Today (Monday) and it hasn't let up yet. I also forgot to mention I hardly ever had cramps when I used to have my period. These last two times I've been having really bad pains.

Well say no more, DEPO, makes your periods crazy, so it is definetly easy to say that your period misfortune is due to the shot and the pills and coming off of both. I don't think you might be pregnant, my doc says it can take up to two years after the shot. Since you are worried about it and can't get into the doc until March, go to your local health department and get a urine test or check up, it is very inexpensive. hang in there, i'de been off the shot for about a year before i got pregnant, my baby is 9 months old and i haven't been on the shot since i had her and my periods are not bad at all, so give it time and you'll be back to normal.

I'd goto the dr. two periods that close is NOT normal. And I doubt you are pregnant seeing as it's heavy bleeding. You could have something else wrong.

Edited to add:It might be your body is messed up from being on the DEPO for 2 years and not having a period.

I am 36 and I have 6 kids I have never taken birth control of any kind but I have always had 2 periods every month. If you think you are wait till the next period date if you r late take a test. they say stress cause you to have 2 periods but I am not stressed every month. I have never had cramps until I had my twins. No one can explain the real reason I have 2 periods a month. And They can't tell when and If i ovulate after both periods. so it could be lots of things. But try to go to a Dr. when you can.

I too was on Depo and had the same thing happen don't freak it could take up to a year before your cycle regul;ates after getting off the shot. Even then your cycle wont be the same. And in the future ALWAYS use a condom, there are no excuses.
