A manager. You'll need some one who can help you find the direction you guys want to head into. And when you guys are good he'll book your dates for gigs.

First of all, the musicians that will play in your band usually have their own guitar/bass and their own amplifier, and the drummer should have his or her own drums, there are no keyboards in rock and roll....ok, just an old musicians joke, keyboards are fine.if you are going to be the singer, having a small p.a. system for vocals and music playback is a must. a small powered mixer usually 6 or 8 channels will do, next 2 full range speaker enclosures preferrably with a 15 inch speaker and a horn. have the store give you the speaker cables and a couple microphone cables for overcharging you for the equipment in the first place. I suggest a Shure brand microphone model sm58, it is the industry standard, dont be afraid to ask the coolest looking person some pointers on setting it up, like "never point your microphone into the speaker enclosure". These basic things are all you need to start, remember practice practice practice. Plus this setup will get you through playing for your friends and family, any other place all you need are your guitars and guitar amps, drumset, and your keyboard, the stuff to sing through will be there.....rock on

first you should put up some ads in your school or community saying your looking for band members. at my old music school they had a bulliten board that you paid a few bucks and theyd let you put up a sign that said your looking for musicians. chances are that they might actually have thier own instrumnets so you wont have to buy everything yourself.

once you have some auditions chose people that appeal to you. people who seem to have drive and have si,milar music intrests as you and also ppl that have similiar visons for the band as you do, thats real important. some ppl want it to be famous others just for fun.

you will also probly want to learn how to write and read music it will help you out in the longrun. you can buy a a notebook with lines for sheet music for about 7 bucks depending on what kind you buy,

next, you might also want to have a program on your computer like cakewalk or garage band, etc. which you'll need to know how to read music for. thats all i can think of at the moment, but if you want more info email me. click on my avatar and it will show my email adrss on the profile.

good luck!! i had a band for 2 years so i know how tough it is to get up and going, we never had a steady drummer! we wne thru about 11 ppl!

Talent would be useful.
Get members and start practicing, start out by playing at school events then small venues, make your name known. then eventually get signed hopefully.
