having done this task dozens of time ..i can guarantee you will remove face of plasterboard ..however if you are going to re tile ..you can tile on top of old tiles ..providing they are firmly fixed..first coat with P V A ..if you are taking off tiles and plasterboard then replace the plaster boards with WATERPROOF ONES ..trust me they are available ..normally they are a greeny colour ..they work a treat and you dont have to plaster them before you re tile

Just throw out the plasterboard with the tiles on it and get new plasterboard, its pretty cheap stuff, and easy to cut and replace, hardly worth the effort of carefully removing the tiles.

Yes definitely remove plaster board with the tiles, if the tiles are only half way up run a Stanley blade along the top edge and remove that piece only makes life easy....but if the plaster board is on brick you will have to dot and dab the plaster board back in place and leave to dry before re tiling..
But be careful when you remove tiles they can be very sharp as i nearly lost a finger!!!

There is a tile tool to remove the grout. After you remove the grout you'll want to use a chisel and hammer to start removing and prying the tile off. You may find it easier just to remove the plasterboard and all and just redrywall the walls. Might be a little more expensive, but might save you a lot of time too.

I have used this method various times,it is successful although
rather messy.Borrow if you have'nt got a wallpaper
stripper, place on the ceramic tiles for a couple of minutes. It will
warm up the adhesive that keeps them to the wall, but once it is
warmed you can with the aid of a scraper or putty knife easily lift
these tiles off . Good Luck
